Karen's new puppy!

Heatherfield Training, owner and operator, Karen Schelling is currently offering agility classes at B & D Creekside Activity Center.

Karen Schelling, owner and operator of Heatherfield Training, has been training and showing dogs in agility, obedience and rally since the mid-nineties, when she adopted her first dog, Jake of Heatherfield, a difficult, cantankerous English Springer Spaniel rescue.  Karen and her current English Springer Spaniel, Rosie, (MACH 7 Aubrey's Run For The Roses) are two-time AKC National Agility Finalists (2013 and 2014) and two-time Westminster Agility Finalists as well.  Her older dog, Riley, PACH3, MACH7 Aubrey's Jump For Joy, was the fourth place finalist in the 2008 AKC Agility Invitationals, 20 inches.  He was Rally Springer of the Year in 2005 and holds the breed record for the Clean Run 60 weave pole challenge.

Karen is best known as a unique handler who has the confidence to call upon her dogs to use their training under any circumstances. Rosie is appreciated for her speed, distance work, obstacle independence  and steady performance; this team often wins and places at  trials  in an area where competition can be fierce; an accomplishment for an "off-breed" team. A psychotherapist by profession, she has the ability to evaluate the dog/handler team and suggest meaningful interventions.  Recently, her interest has included the evaluation and application of International styles of handling.  She competes in AKC, USDAA and UKI agility trials and teaches agility, rally and obedience for competition.
